Showdown Between Crows and Power : The Adelaide Hills town of Mount Barker has been chosen to host an AFL pre-season match between the Crows and Power, known as the “Summit Showdown.”
After missing out on a Gather Round game, Mount Barker is eager to prove itself.
“This is Mount Barker stepping up from Gather Round—we’ve achieved this entirely on our own,” said Mayor David Leach.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring a match of this caliber to Mount Barker on our own terms.”
The Summit Showdown is anticipated to be a major attraction for the region, with a strong emphasis on families.

Tickets are set at $10, with free entry for children under 15.
“Times are challenging,” Mayor Leach remarked.
“This isn’t about money; it’s about bringing together young people and those my age to enjoy a fantastic display of footy and build excitement for the season ahead,” said Mayor Leach.
With tickets for the Summit Showdown expected to sell out quickly, plans are already underway to potentially double the crowd capacity from 5,000 to nearly 10,000.
Local sports clubs will manage food and drink sales during the game as a fundraising opportunity.
“When the person grilling sausages is your neighbor, and a local footy club is selling the drinks, with the proceeds staying in the community, people are more than happy to spend $10 or $20,” Leach added.
