Our Commitment to Accuracy
Australia Local News aims to report information accurately and fairly. When we make an error, we are committed to correcting it promptly and transparently, in a way that is proportionate to the significance of the error.
How to Report an Error
If you believe an article or page contains an inaccuracy, please let us know via our Contact page. To help us assess your report quickly, please include:
- the title or web address (URL) of the page;
- the specific detail you believe is incorrect;
- the correct information and, where possible, a supporting source; and
- your name and contact details (optional, but helpful if we need to follow up with you).
How Corrections Are Handled
Each report is reviewed by our editorial team, who may verify the information against primary or authoritative sources before deciding on a response. Where an error is confirmed:
- the article is updated as soon as practicable;
- a clear note is added to the article describing the change and the date it was made; and
- more significant errors may be accompanied by a more prominent correction notice.
Where No Correction Is Required
If we find that the original content was accurate, or the matter concerns a difference of opinion or interpretation, we will let you know our reasoning. Not every concern will result in a change to published content.
Timeframes
We aim to acknowledge correction requests within a reasonable time, generally within five business days. Resolution times may vary depending on the complexity of the matter.
