Ipswich Woman’s Death: Husband, Brother-in-Law Charged

Two men have been charged with murder following the death of a young woman at a residence in Ipswich, located west of Brisbane.

Police discovered the 23-year-old Afghan woman at a property in Springfield Lakes around 8pm last night.

She was found unresponsive and not breathing when officers arrived at the scene.

She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

Queensland Police Detective Inspector Michael Manago described the incident as tragic, noting that two children, aged three and four, were present in the home at the time.

Detectives are pursuing several lines of inquiry into the events of the night… understanding what happened in the hours leading up to the incident will be a key part of our investigation,” Manago stated.

Afghan Woman Found Dead in Springfield Lakes Home; Two Men Face Domestic Violence Murder Charges

Detective Inspector Manago stated that the woman had been living at the Springfield Lakes residence with her 26-year-old husband and 28-year-old brother-in-law for a brief period before her death.

He confirmed that both men, Afghan nationals, were renting the divided property.

They were taken into custody at the scene and have since been charged with one count of domestic violence-related murder.

The pair are scheduled to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday, May 19.
