Star-Studded Cast Revealed for The Walsh Sisters on Stan

The Walsh Sisters series poster featuring Louisa Harland and Aidan Quinn on Stan, Irish comedy drama adaptation, best-selling novels, Hollywood cast

The Walsh Sisters series : Inspired by Marian Keyes’ best-selling novels, the highly anticipated Hollywood adaptation The Walsh Sisters is coming exclusively to Stan.

Leading the outstanding cast of this six-part comedy-drama is Derry Girls star Louisa Harland, alongside Irish American actor Aidan Quinn.

Quinn is widely recognized for his role as Sandra Bullock’s love interest in the cult 1990s fantasy film Practical Magic (1998).

Promising to be a binge-worthy hit, the series introduces viewers to the chaotic, dysfunctional — yet irresistibly lovable — Walsh family: five sisters, a devout mother, and a bewildered father.

Meanwhile, author Marian Keyes is currently on tour in Australia.

The Walsh Sisters: Marian Keyes’ Best-Selling Novels Come to Life on Stan

Set in their hometown of Dublin, The Walsh Sisters follows Anna (Harland), party-loving sister Rachel, eldest sibling Claire, fearless youngest Helen, and the so-called ‘white sheep’ Maggie as they navigate the ups and downs of life in their late 20s and 30s.

Hollywood star Aidan Quinn takes on the role of their long-suffering father, Jack ‘Daddy’ Walsh, alongside Carrie Crowley as the quirky and eccentric Mammy Walsh.

The lead cast also features rising star Caroline Menton as Rachel, Danielle Galligan as Claire, BAFTA-nominated Máiréad Tyers as Helen, and talented actor-screenwriter Stefanie Preissner.

As one of Ireland’s most celebrated authors, Marian Keyes brings her beloved characters from novels like Rachel’s Holiday and Anybody Out There to life in this series.

Since the release of her debut novel in 1995, Marian Keyes has sold over 39 million books worldwide, earning her the prestigious Author of the Year title at the British Book Awards in 2022.

The eagerly awaited screen adaptation is set to stand on its own as a compelling series. Audiences can expect a sisterhood filled with inside jokes, lingering resentments, and more than a few old scars.

Yet, it’s the Walsh sisters’ shared DNA, deep-rooted history, and mutual love of power ballads that bind them together as they navigate heartbreak, grief, addiction, and the challenges of parenthood.

With the series premiering exclusively on Stan, author Marian Keyes has promised “a treat” for her Australian fans.

“Australian readers have always been incredible supporters of my books, especially the ones about the Walsh Sisters — and there’s such a treat waiting for you!” she shared.

Stefanie Preissner’s scripts have transformed the spirit of my novels into something fresh and captivating. And the cast! Both individually and together, the five young women portraying the sisters absolutely amazed me,” she continued.

It might sound odd to say, but even if I weren’t involved in this, I’d be dying to watch it myself.
