TikTok poisoning case : Police intend to challenge the bail application of a Queensland TikTok influencer accused of poisoning a one-year-old girl to gain followers and solicit funds.

The 34-year-old woman from the Sunshine Coast allegedly administered multiple unauthorized prescription and pharmacy medications to the child, causing her to become seriously ill.

“During a time when the child was experiencing significant distress and pain, it is alleged the woman filmed and shared videos of the child,” police stated.

“It is alleged that the content created exploited the child and was used to attract monetary donations and increase online followers.”

Detective Inspector Paul Dalton revealed that the little girl was already hospitalized for a legitimate illness when medical staff noticed something unusual.

On January 7, tests confirmed the presence of unauthorized medications in her system.

Police allege the medications were given to the little girl between August 6 and October 15 of last year.

“There are no words to convey how abhorrent crimes like this are,” Detective Inspector Paul Dalton said. “There is absolutely no justification for harming a child, especially one so young.”

The woman is accused of raising up to $60,000 through a GoFundMe campaign.

“We’ve been in contact with GoFundMe, and my investigators understand they are working to refund the money to the generous individuals who donated out of the kindness of their hearts,” Dalton added.

“We will be seeking restitution for that money if she is convicted in the future,” Dalton stated.

The woman was taken into custody this morning at a residence in Underwood by detectives from the Morningside Child Protection and Investigation Unit.

She faces charges including five counts of administering poison with intent to harm, three counts of preparation to commit crimes involving dangerous substances, and one count each of torture, creating child exploitation material, and fraud.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Dalton noted that, if convicted, the woman could face a significant prison sentence.
