Greg Josephson death : The 58-year-old was laid to rest last week after he was allegedly killed by a 15-year-old boy he knew, during a house party attended by around 30 teenagers celebrating the end of the school term at his Oriel Road mansion in Clayfield on June 26.

Josephson was the co-founder of the multimillion-dollar youth fashion brand Universal Store and the owner of multiple cafes and retail outlets on the Sunshine Coast.

The team at Cafe Doonan announced last week that Greg Josephson’s family has made the difficult decision to permanently close Cafe Noosa, Noosa General Store, and Eumundi Sourdough Co.

With heavy hearts, we share that his beautiful family has been forced to make a tough call. Cafe Noosa, Noosa General Store, and Eumundi Sourdough Co have officially closed as of Monday, July 14,” the statement read.

Family Closes Multiple Sunshine Coast Cafes Following Greg Josephson’s Death

Josephson was discovered deceased at the mansion around 8:15pm on June 26.

A 15-year-old boy, who was known to Josephson, was arrested by police on a nearby street and later charged with murder. He remains before the court.

It was the same teenager who had made the call to triple zero.

Cafe Doonan honoured Greg Josephson’s memory, describing him as a “wonderful owner” who would be “deeply missed by all staff.

No words can truly capture the weight of this loss. Greg was building something extraordinary—his passion and determination were truly unmatched,” the cafe said in a heartfelt statement.

He cherished being part of this community and had a remarkable vision for all four locations. He was a kind and gentle soul, and his absence is felt profoundly by the entire team.

Universal Store also issued a statement following the news of his passing.

We are saddened to share that Greg Josephson, our founder and a key figure in the business until 2018, has recently passed away,” the company said.

Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time.

Josephson co-founded Universal Store with his brother Michael in 1999 and served as a company director until it was sold to private equity investors in 2018.

The business was later listed on the ASX in 2020.

Following the sale, he took on the role of CEO at Josephson Holdings Pty Ltd.
