Police detonate dangerous device : Specialist police safely detonated a hazardous device discovered on a popular beach along Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Footage captured the moment the device exploded on the deserted shoreline near the water.

Authorities enforced an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) and secured a wide perimeter around the device at 12:30 pm.

Hazardous Device Detonated on Sunshine Coast Beach

The exclusion zone covers David Low Way between Podargus Parade and Woodland Drive, including Martin Street,

 Avocet Street, Peregian Esplanade, Parakeet Crescent, Egrer Street, Teal Street, Currawong Crescent, Osprey Avenue, Tern Street, Garnet Street, Ibis Street, Pelican Street, and Kingfisher Drive.

Authorities urged residents to remain indoors unless directed otherwise by police.

The exact nature of the device has not yet been confirmed.

Police Safely Neutralize Dangerous Device

Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.
