Missing boy South Australia : Police have emptied a large dam on a remote South Australian property where Gus Lamont disappeared more than a month ago, but no evidence of the missing child has been uncovered.
The four-year-old was last seen playing outside Oak Park Station, roughly 40 kilometres south of Yunta, on September 27. Despite extensive air and ground searches over the past month, no trace of him has been found.
Emergency crews returned to the property this morning to drain the main dam into the southern dam, clearing out weed beds to enable a thorough visual inspection.
The operation lasted around three and a half hours, pumping approximately 15,000 litres of water per minute, and removing a total of 3.2 million litres from the dam.
Police Drain Large Dam in Renewed Search for Missing Boy Gus Lamont
Police divers thoroughly examined both the main dam and the holding dam but found nothing of significance. After the search, the water was pumped back into the dam.
This operation comes after extensive ground and aerial searches around the homestead where the boy went missing.
Task Force Horizon investigators also deployed drones to survey the remote landscape, but so far, no evidence has been discovered. Additional aerial imaging covering an area up to 10 kilometres from the property is still in progress.
The task force, made up of 12 specialists, continues to analyse collected information and identify new areas for potential searches.
Four-Year-Old Vanished from Oak Park Station Over a Month Ago
Police suspended their most recent ground search for Gus on October 17, after scorching temperatures made search efforts increasingly difficult.
Despite the operation, no sign of the missing boy was found. This latest attempt followed an earlier 10-day search that involved police, military personnel, SES volunteers, trackers, and local residents.
Authorities confirmed that investigations so far have found no evidence of foul play, and Gus’ family continues to fully cooperate with police.
SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens reaffirmed the force’s commitment, stating that “no stone will be left unturned” in the effort to find Gus.
We are determined to do everything within our power to bring Gus home to his family, Stevens said.
