Four police officers responded to the scene, and more than one officer discharged their firearm, according to Stevens.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before transporting him to a medical facility, where he was pronounced dead. No police officers were injured during the incident.

The man’s girlfriend was not present at the property but had been on a video call with him prior to contacting the police.

Stevens stated that the police officers involved appeared to have acted in accordance with their training.

“Having reviewed the body-worn camera footage, I can say this was an extremely stressful and dangerous situation. At this stage, the officers seem to have followed their training and taken necessary actions to protect themselves and the ambulance officers present,” he said.
