Missing child Gus Lamont : Police have shared a heartbreaking update in the ongoing search for four-year-old Gus Lamont, who vanished from a remote sheep station two months ago.
Authorities have now concluded their most recent search efforts for Gus, who was last seen at a South Australian sheep station. As part of the operation, police combed multiple areas of Oak Park Station, including six mine shafts identified through aerial mapping during earlier ground searches.
The mine shafts—situated between 5.5km and 12km from the main homestead—were thoroughly inspected, but no evidence was found that could assist investigators in uncovering what happened to the missing child.
Specialist Teams Search Beyond Previously Examined Radius
A police spokesperson explained that while some of the shafts were shallow enough to be checked visually, others extended up to 20 metres deep and required specialised equipment for a full inspection.
According to the spokesperson, officers from Task Force Horizon and the STAR Group continued their search on foot on Wednesday, covering areas up to 10km from the homestead—beyond the previously examined 5.5km radius.
The family of Gus has been informed of the outcome of the renewed search efforts and is receiving support from a victim contact officer,” the spokesperson added.
Investigators from Task Force Horizon have not ruled out returning to the property as their inquiry remains ongoing.
