Methanol poisoning Laos : The parents of a young woman who died after consuming contaminated alcohol in Laos are urging Australians to avoid traveling to the country.
Holly Bowles and Bianca Jones lost their lives to methanol poisoning in Vang Vieng last November.
The two were staying at the Nana Backpacker Hostel.

A total of six people lost their lives in the poisoning incident.
Bianca Jones’ parents are now urging Australians to avoid traveling to Laos, citing the absence of an investigation.
“There’s been no communication,” her father, Mark Jones, told the ABC.
Parents Demand Accountability and Investigation from Lao Authorities
“We haven’t received any updates. We were told that 12 people had been taken into custody, but they’ve all been released.”
“As far as we know, no Lao nationals were arrested,” they said.
“We’re deeply disappointed that no progress seems to be made.”
Bianca’s mother, Michelle Jones, added, “Our girls were killed, and nothing is being done.”
The Australian Federal Police offered assistance, but Lao authorities declined the help.
The grieving parents are now urging Australians to avoid traveling to Laos.
“Don’t go,” Mrs. Jones said firmly.
“If you want tourists to visit your country, make it safe,” Mr. Jones added. “This doesn’t happen in other places.”

Holly’s father, Sean Bowles, told the ABC that losing his daughter felt “surreal,” describing it as a “nightmare.”
“It’s an experience you wouldn’t wish on anyone,” he said.
