Australian actress Rachael Carpani, widely recognised for her role in the popular drama series McLeod’s Daughters, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 45.
The heartbreaking news was shared by her parents in an official statement, which was posted on Instagram by her sister, singer Georgia Carpani.
In the statement, Tony and Gael Carpani expressed their deep sorrow, announcing that their beloved daughter died peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, 7 December, following a long battle with chronic illness.
Funeral to Be Held Privately as Family Requests Privacy
The funeral will be held privately on Friday, 19 December, attended only by close family and friends. The family has asked for privacy during this challenging time and has indicated that no further statements will be released.
Rachael Carpani was best known for her portrayal of Jodi Fountain on the Australian television drama McLeod’s Daughters, a role she played from 2001 to 2009. Her performance earned her two Logie Award nominations in 2007, including the Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress and a nomination for the prestigious Gold Logie.

Her last on-screen appearance was in the 2024 season of Home and Away, where she featured as a recurring character, portraying Claudia Salini.
Carpani drew public attention in 2021 after being hospitalised with severe abdominal pain. At the time, she informed her followers that she required surgery for an undisclosed medical condition.

She previously revealed that she had been admitted to emergency care after experiencing severe abdominal pain, spending several days in intensive care before being transferred to a surgical ward. She explained that she had ignored warning signs and continued working through the pain, which ultimately led to her condition worsening.
A pinned post on Carpani’s Instagram account, shared in March 2024, also referenced her ongoing health struggles.
In the post, the actress shared photos from a recent photoshoot and reflected that it was the first time in quite a while she was not wearing a hospital gown or recovery socks.
