Sydney south-west police operation : Seven men were taken into custody this afternoon during a high-intensity operation carried out by heavily armed police in Sydney’s south-west.
Authorities said they acted on intelligence suggesting a violent act may have been in the planning stages, but confirmed there was no link to the ongoing investigation into the Bondi terror attack.
Video footage from the scene shows officers in camouflage uniforms, body armour and helmets, carrying long-arm firearms as they detained, searched and handcuffed the men.
Dramatic Scenes as Police Intercept Vehicle in Liverpool
The men’s vehicle appears to have been intercepted and forcibly brought to a halt.
One of those arrested was later seen being taken away on a stretcher, his face bloodied and his head wrapped in bandages.
In a statement released tonight, NSW Police said Tactical Operations officers acted on information indicating that a violent act may have been in the planning stages.

Police later stopped two vehicles as part of the ongoing investigation.
Seven men are currently assisting officers with their inquiries as investigations continue.
At this stage, police have found no link between the incident and the current investigation into the Bondi terror attack.
The dramatic operation took place at the intersection of George and Campbell streets in Liverpool, directly opposite the busy Westfield shopping centre.
Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
