“My father, Remington, wasn’t as fortunate—he passed away at 59 in 1988 from the same condition.

“In just a few weeks, I’ll be back to full health.”

Pyne is anticipated to make a complete recovery in the coming weeks.

“This is a major surgery, but fortunately, it was detected early, allowing him to undergo the procedure in time. He is expected to make a full recovery in the coming weeks,” a spokesperson for Pyne and Partners stated.

Pyne was elected as the federal MP for Sturt in 1993 at just 25 years old and held the position throughout his political career.

During his time in parliament, Pyne held various portfolios, including Minister for Education and Training, Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, and Minister for Ageing.

After 26 years in politics, he retired at the 2019 federal election and was later appointed as an Industry Professor at the University of South Australia.

Currently, he serves as the chairman of Pyne and Partners, Vision 2020 Australia, and NIOA, along with holding several other high-level executive positions.
