Topshop comeback 2026 : After closing all its stores worldwide due to financial struggles, a popular fashion brand is now making an unexpected return.

A well-known British fashion brand is set to make its comeback in Australia — five years after the retailer shut its doors worldwide due to ongoing financial troubles.

Myer has announced that Topshop will return to its 56 department stores from February 2026, aligning with the company’s commitment to offer brands that appeal to and connect with younger shoppers.

Rising to fame in the early 2000s, Topshop became a global style sensation, celebrated for its “cool” factor and trend-driven collections, boosted by edgy campaigns featuring style icons like Kate Moss, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and Beyoncé.

However, the brand’s fortunes declined sharply in 2017—around six years after launching its first stores in Australia—when it entered voluntary administration.

At that point, Topshop Australia was reportedly burdened with $35 million in debt.

A series of store closures followed, and by 2020 the brand faced another major blow when its then-parent company, the Arcadia Group, also entered administration.

With Topshop stores shutting down across the UK, Australia, and the US, the struggling retailer was acquired in 2021 by online giant ASOS, which continued selling the brand digitally. In 2024, however, ASOS sold a 75% stake in Topshop to help repay its debts, handing majority ownership to Danish fashion company Bestseller.

Now, riding the wave of a growing early-2000s fashion revival, Topshop is making a surprising comeback.

After relaunching in the UK with a combination of stand-alone stores, concession spaces, and a debut runway show fronted by model Cara Delevingne, the brand is now expanding into new markets — with Myer set to offer its clothing in Australia.

Myer’s chief merchandise officer, Belinda Slifkas, said the company is “thrilled to welcome one of the most iconic and globally recognised brands,” calling Topshop “the perfect addition to the Myer family.

We’re seeing more and more young shoppers choosing Myer, and with Topshop’s return, we’re confident it will further enhance our appeal and strengthen our connection with this customer base,” she added.

In recent years, Y2K fashion has made a major comeback, with Gen Z enthusiastically embracing its bold and expressive style.

Topshop’s brand director, Henrik Matthiesen, said the partnership represents a significant step in bringing the label back to Australia.

Collaborating with Myer gives us the opportunity to introduce our refreshed vision to the Australian market with energy, relevance, and a deeper connection to how people want to dress today,” Matthiesen said.

New promotional campaigns for the brand highlight a blend of wardrobe essentials, including tailored suiting and timeless black dresses.

Across social media, many fans have celebrated Topshop’s comeback.

Topshop is rising from the grave and I’m so happy,” one user said in a TikTok video.

Thank God — I love it,” another commented.

Even London Mayor Sadiq Khan praised the revival, calling it “fantastic to see the brand relaunched” during its catwalk event at Trafalgar Square.
