EXCLUSIVE: The late-night chaos of 3 a.m. painting is officially over—this year, The Block Season 21 has introduced a strict curfew.
In an exclusive video (watch above), co-host Shelley Craft revealed one of the biggest changes the show has seen in years.
Every night, all Blockheads and their tradies are locked out of the worksite, with access only resuming the following morning.
Shelley Craft Reveals the Biggest Rule Change in Years
You can’t work around the clock. It’s not healthy for anyone’s mental health or overall wellbeing,” Shelley explained.
And in today’s times, that kind of nonstop work just doesn’t belong on a worksite!
In previous seasons, contestants often stayed on-site, sleeping in tents or half-renovated rooms while working on their builds. But in 2025, the Blockheads are enjoying a major upgrade—resting off-site in comfortable, well-equipped caravans.
Strict Night Curfew Ends 3 a.m. Painting Marathons
It’s definitely a step up from air mattresses, but the new curfew means contestants can no longer rely on those late-night painting marathons.
With the clock ticking, smart time management will be more crucial than ever to get their rooms completed on schedule.
Shelley noted that The Block has always been a demanding competition, and this year is no exception.
However, she was “thrilled” to share that this has been “the happiest season of The Block we’ve had in a long time.
We’ve made adjustments to the show’s structure over the years to ensure contestants not only have a great learning experience but also genuinely enjoy the journey,” Shelley explained.
