The woman who was killed by her pitbull–mastiff cross had previously been urged by her mother to have the dog put down.

A 39-year-old woman, Christine Kulis, has been identified as the victim who was fatally mauled by her own dog.

She was attacked on Thursday at her Whyalla home, located about 400km northwest of Adelaide, by her pitbull–mastiff cross.

Her mother, Meredith Howe of Port Augusta, told the Daily Mail that she had repeatedly urged her daughter to put the dog down.
